CeCe Frey 'Knew' She Wasn't Going To Win 'X Factor' Dec 7th 2012, 14:56 'I wasn't that cookie-cutter girl you pick to win one of these things,' latest castoff tells MTV News. By Chris Kim CeCe Frey Photo: MTV News After the dust settles on the second season of "The X Factor" and the eventual winner is crowned (spoiler alert: it's most likely going to be Tate Stevens or Carly Rose Sonenclar), the most memorable and polarizing contestant must be the blond, leopard-print-loving CeCe Frey. From her initial sassy audition of Xtina's "Ain't No Other Man" to her mock rivalry with Paige Thomas (over a Whitney Houston song, no less) and her over-the-top, glitzed-out performances, Frey managed to both entertain and frustrate us week to week. It all came to an end during this week's elimination episode, which saw mentor Demi Lovato lose her entire team after Frey was finally voted out of the competition. If the young songstress reminded you of Cher Lloyd on the U.K. version of "The X Factor" or Adam Lambert from "American Idol" — i.e., a polarizing, out-of-the-box pop-star wannabe — you're not alone. "When Adam Lambert was on ['Idol'], I said, 'Now that's the kind of dude that needs to win one of these shows,' " Frey told MTV News on Friday (December 7). "But the thing is, performers like me and Adam Lambert and Diamond White and Lyric 145, we're not the kind of artists that win these things. We're the kind of artist that win afterwards — or I hope so, anyway — and I'm going to work my butt off to get there." As defiant as ever, Frey was adamant she didn't come into this competition expecting to win. "You hope for that, but I pretty much knew," she said of her chances. "I mean, I had leopard print on my face, for Christ's sake! I pretty much knew that I wasn't that cookie-cutter girl that you pick to win one of these things, but I knew that I was going to use this and run with it." Without a doubt, Frey was a fierce performer throughout the competition, managing to climb the leaderboard, defy Simon's comment to "pack a suitcase" last week and amass a legion of fans. By Christina Garibaldi The Wanted Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — It all came down to Friday night (December 7) at Z100's annual Jingle Ball concert: Would One Direction and The Wanted finally settle their nearly monthlong feud? Well, if it's up to The Wanted, they will. After trading jabs through interviews and on Twitter, fans of One Direction and The Wanted — who, at one time, were on friendly terms — were worried there would be a boy-band show down at Madison Square Garden, where they were both performing Friday. On Monday, The Wanted said they could "get arrested" if the argument with 1D escalated, and they've been hyping the face-to-face meet-up for quite some time, recently telling MTV News, "If you got an actual problem, come see us in New York." On the Jingle Ball red carpet, we caught up with The Wanted's Jay McGuiness and Max George — who was appropriately wearing a T-shirt that read "You Mad, Bro?" — and they revealed that in the spirit of the holidays, it was time to put the feud behind them ... even if they're still unsure why it went as far as it did. "It seemed to start as a joke," McGuiness said of the back-and-forth. "But then the tone got a little bit nasty, so I just like to see how they feel about it, because I didn't like what I read. I think it's probably best that we peace a little at Christmas." Lindsay Lohan is still hanging with The Wanted after her arrest. This isn't the first time The Wanted have attempted to make amends with One Direction: George admitted that he reached out to them earlier about a possible truce. "I invited them for a beer a few months ago," George revealed. "But they didn't take me up on it. Hopefully we bump into them after the show." McGuiness added: "Peace and love at Christmas!" It seems Directioners and the TWFanmily can rest easy, because this battle of the boy bands has come to an end — for now. After owning her screen time during the family's successful reality show "Braxton Family Values," the charismatic entertainer scored a spin-off with her record-executive husband Vincent Herbert for "Tamar & Vince." But the youngest Braxton sister has quickly learned that life in the limelight has its share of challenges. After rumors began to swirl about the star bleaching her skin and getting plastic surgery, she responded to the theories during an interview with Bossip, ultimately revealing a skin condition. "I just want to know what time do I have to do that," she told the site. "If you really think about it, we've been shooting 'Braxton Family Values' for two years and then in between that it was 'Tamar & Vince,' and now we're back into production with 'Braxton Family Values.' So when did she change her face? I just think I grew up and I don't look the same that I did when I was 19. I don't think any of us do." Tamar's husband Vince came to his wife's defense not only saying she is beautiful as is, but also providing a bit more of an explanation as to why her skin has caught people's attention. "Actually, Tamar has the same thing that Michael Jackson had." Braxton clarified her husband's statement, saying she has vitiligo, but quickly changed the subject. Truth be told, the reality star turned solo artist has a lot more to focus her attention on. Her new single "Love and War" soared to number one on iTunes only 24 hours after it was digitally released. The song's debut coincided perfectly with the season finale of "Tamar & Vince" which aired last night on WE tv. The singer originally opened up to The Huffington Post about what fans would see on the show, and she certainly didn't disappoint. Throughout the season, viewers got a small dose of album tracks and a sneak peak at studio sessions and photo shoots for the singer's upcoming album. With a new season of "Braxton Family Values" on the way, and a solo album dropping any day, fans are surely going to get all the Tamar they want. In 2008, Heigl famously made it known that she would not submit her name for the Emmy race -- after winning the award in 2007 -- saying she wasn't given good material to work with. "On some level it stung," Rhimes told Winfrey during an interview airing as part of "Oprah's Next Chapter." "On some level, I was not surprised. When people show you who they are, believe them." Rhimes said that mantra has carried her through the years. "It has served me well," she said. In the past, Rhimes said she was surprised by Heigl's statements, but asserted the actress asked for a lighter load to accommodate her film work. "When I was told about it, my reaction was surprised," Rhimes said in 2008. "I have a really wonderful working relationship with Katherine. Everybody knows Izzie is one off my favorite characters ... The back half of the season, Katherine asked me to write her light so that she could do her movie. I don't feel insulted." Heigl left the series earlier than expected, but has said she would like to return to the character of Dr. Izzie Stevens. "I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is," Heigl told E! Online. "I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she's doing now." Heigl said she told producers about her desire to return. "I want them to know that I'm down with it if they want me to, but I completely understand if it doesn't necessarily work," she told the hosts of "The View." In response, Rhimes told TV Guide at the time that "it was really nice to hear her appreciating the show." But, she added, "We are on a track we have been planning, and the idea of changing that track is not something we are interested in right now." "Grey's" star Patrick Dempsey recently told HuffPost TV that he wants to see Izzie's storyline resolved. "It's always hard losing characters that we've grown to love, and certainly from that initial first group, it's unfortunate to see people go on, but I don't think Shonda [Rhimes] will bring anybody back," Dempsey said. "I don't think Izzie's character (Katherine Heigl) was ever really resolved, and I think there's a moment there that should be resolved -- I think that would be nice for the fans.
